Since 2021 the NY AG’s Civil Rights Bureau and Law Enforcement Misconduct Investigative Office have been investigating the Saratoga Springs Police Department’s response to protesters in 2021. The OAG found that Saratoga Springs, SSPD, and city officials “implemented an unconstitutional policy of retaliating against BLM protesters based on their speech… [and by doing so] they violated the first amendment.”
